I am starting this blog in hopes that I can share about my life living in a different country plus it can be such a fun way to document everything I do.
Now you’re probably wondering who I am, so let me introduce myself!
My name is Sarah Auburn, I am going to be turning 24 on June 28th, and I graduated just over a year ago with a bachelor’s from Abilene Christian University in Child and Family Services. I started working as a preschool teacher right after college. I then tried to get a different job in a different field, but it didn’t quite work out the way I expected (that’s a story for another time ha-ha). I am now working as a lead toddler teacher at a different preschool, my last day was June 17th. While it saddens me to leave an amazing preschool, I know the opportunity I have is once in a lifetime. Working with kids is honestly something I love to do even though I do complain about it occasionally. You see the growth through months of hard work and it’s the coolest thing knowing I made an impact on a tiny human. If you can’t already tell, I love working with kids in general, but I can promise you I do have other hobbies as well. Some of these include reading books in my spare time, watching movies, going out for walks, seeing new places, and ultimately spending time with the people I love! I am pretty much a busy bee if you can’t already tell.
Now you’re probably wondering where I am going and why I am starting this blog. Let me explain, after college I had my heart set on being an au pair for a couple in the UK, unfortunately, it didn’t work out the way I thought it would and, in that process, I set my locations on Hinge to Manchester, UK. I didn’t think I was going to meet anyone and become serious, I was looking for friendships so that I at least know somebody when I went over. After my graduation I matched with someone on Hinge, can you believe it? He is from Manchester, England, Warrington if I am being exact, but we talked all summer and met in person in September at Disney World and started dating that weekend. Fast forward and here we are 8 months dating now and it was the best thing that has truly happened to me. Realize we have been doing long distance for about 8 months now and we hate the distance. While there are some good things about it there are bad things as well. We both want to spend time with each other, It was a decision my parents are helping me with, and I am truly thankful for it. Now realize I am going over there a little bit for him but also for me. I wanted to really experience the UK and not only get the chance to see it but look at universities. I also wanted the chance to travel a bit more and get an idea of what I want to do as I truly don’t know what I am doing in my life. It was a lot to take in if I am honest, but I am thankful for this type of opportunity and hope it can help anyone else out too.
I can’t wait to share not only my experiences but the things I do on this adventure in this blog. See you soon and hopefully within the next few posts I will be writing this while in England. Any suggestions? I am all ears for what people might want to hear!
Yours Truly,
Sarah Auburn
Do you have any notable siblings? I’ve heard rumors that you have a very good looking younger brother, can you confirm?
I can confirm this is NOT true.
Great work getting to this point!
Love you!
Sarah: I’m excited to follow along via your blog on your next few months in the UK! Proud of you for your bravery and sense of adventure!
